Our high quality graphite electrodes are mainly made from petroleum coke, and a small amount of pitch coke can be added to our RP graphite electrodes. More importantly, the sulphur content of both petroleum coke and pitch coke is no more than 0.5%. Moreover, needle coke is added to our HP graphite electrodes and UHP graphite electrode. Moreover, both petroleum coke and pitch coke are up to the national standard in China. The manufacturing process of our high bulk density graphite electrodes consist mainly of crush, batching, mixing, extrusion pressing, baking, impregnation, secondary baking, graphitization, machining, quality inspection and packing. In general, it takes us 50 days to produce RP graphite electrodes and 65 days to manufacture UHP graphite electrodes.
The varieties and specifications of graphite electrodes used in the process of steelmaking in a modern EAF are largely a function of its technical parameters. In the wake of the technological advance of EAFs, steelmaking technologies have a tendency to become large-scale and ultra-high-power and, therefore, large-scale graphite electrodes and UHP ones prevail. In general, RP graphite electrodes and HP graphite electrodes are most commonly used in a EAF. However, the usage of UHP ones has increased year by year, and they account for nearly 50% of the total consumption. In addition to this, diameters of our graphite electrodes range from 300—500mm, and lengths of our graphite electrodes range from 1600-2700mm.
